Nice FNL Pieces in “Time” Mag and L.A. Times

In the February 14th issue of Time Magazine, journalist James Poniewozik does a wonderful tribute to the show, in which he mentions that “this brilliantly written and acted drama…..has been a moving, regionally specific but universally true portrait of America”. He goes on to point out, I believe correctly, that the series never pushes a political agenda from the left or right, and that ultimately this is a show about respect for ourselves and each other. In terms of creating the score for the series, Snuffy and I never felt that we were asked to or needed to “push” any emotion that wasn’t on the screen or manipulate the audience in any way. and it was wonderful to part part of something that was so organic and honest from the start. There was also a nice piece in the February 6th edition of the L.A. Times which especially focuses on the marital relationship between Eric and Tami Taylor, which has been referred to in this article and others as the most realistic depiction of a marriage on television. Season five will be airing on NBC beginning in mid April of this year, and the Season 5 DVD is scheduled to be released around the same time.
